Bongiorno! On September 9th, Waterford Estates will be hosting an extra special fundraiser spaghetti dinner for an extra special cause: the Alzheimer’s Assosciation. Besides a delicious spaghetti dinner prepared by our expert chefs, this wonderful night will include raffle tickets for purchase and a room especially dedicated for children, including face painting and crafts! Need another reason to come? Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, which “advances research to end Alzheimer’s and dementia while enhancing care for those living with the disease,” according to alz.org, the official Alzheimer’s Association website. With Alzheimer’s and dementia a concern facing many seniors today, Waterford Estates is committed to doing everything we can to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
Waterford Estates’ Community Relations Director, Cara Schnayer, has an additional personal motivation for raising money for Alzheimer’s disease. She shares, “My dad, Fred… what a great guy! He was the youngest of 13 children born during the depression. Amazing, and simple the things he accomplished with his life. I lost him to vascular dementia. As I think back on it, he was gone long before he ever physically left this world. I don’t understand the medical miracles that can be performed, yet I would give anything to have had him back for even one day. I hope one day that there are medical miracles for Alzheimer’s, vascular dementia any and all forms of memory loss. Somehow fundraising for this cause feels like fighting back!”
The fundraiser dinner will be held at Waterford Estates on Saturday, September 9th, with two seatings available, from 4:00-5:30 pm or 5:30-7:00 pm. Raffle tickets for an iPad, bicycle, or camera will be sold for $1 apiece, cash only. Call to RSVP to Cara or Michelle at (708)406-6975. We hope to see you there!
