We believe in involving families in the care of their loved ones and recognize that memory loss impacts everyone involved. Our personalized support extends to all family members, offering assistance, answering questions, and guiding you through the process.
In addition to our specialized programming, Waterford Estates is committed to providing affordable housing that enables residents to age with dignity in a familiar setting.
Memory Care Neighborhoods
Our beautiful, newly-renovated terrace-level Memory Care neighborhoods create a warm and comforting environment for seniors with special memory care support needs. Our space has been transformed using state-of the art design elements to foster the comforts and familiar memories of home – where the scents of fresh laundry and cookies baking in the kitchen meet the warm glow from a life-like fireplace and sunshine streams from skylights into welcoming living rooms. Our Memory Care program has been certified as a Supportive Living – Dementia Care Services community to provide personalized care and specialized programming, while offering guidance and support for families and other loved ones through what is often a difficult journey.

Supportive Living Program
Waterford Estates’ Supportive Living program is certified by the Illinois Department of Health & Family Services. This program is designed to foster independence, dignity, respect, and overall well-being for residents in a cost-effective manner. Depending on each individual’s financial and health status, Medicaid may provide assistance for the costs associated with the Supportive Living Program (SLP) for qualifying residents.
In Illinois, the Supportive Living Program (SLP) serves as a Medicaid-supported alternative to nursing home care for low-income older individuals. By delivering personalized care and services, residents can maintain their independence and actively participate in decision-making processes. The program prioritizes personal choice, dignity, privacy, and individuality, ensuring a supportive and empowering environment.
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services has secured a waiver enabling payment for services beyond what is typically covered by Medicaid, including personal care, homemaking, laundry, medication assistance, social and health activities, recreation, and access to 24-hour staff for addressing both scheduled and unscheduled needs. Residents are responsible for room and board expenses at the facility.
Our residents at Waterford Estates benefit from the reassurance and peace of mind of living in their own apartments with dedicated support services and security. The Supportive Living program is tailored to help seniors achieve a comfortable and fulfilling lifestyle, with services personalized to meet each resident’s unique needs.

- Arts & Crafts: Residents express creativity through hands-on projects, including painting, pottery and scrap-booking
- Fitness & Wellness: Gentle stretching and exercise, Tai Chi, water aerobics to promote physical health, stamina and well-being
- Reminiscence Therapy: Engages residents in conversation about past experiences using familiar objects and photos to encourage story-telling
- Music Therapy: Encourages sensory participation using music to calm and relax
- Pet Therapy: An outdoor pet therapy organization joins us at Waterford Estates to provide a little furry cuddling
- Storytelling & Poetry: Reading aloud to create a calming environment and spark story-telling
- Game Days: Participate in games that promote memory recall help sharpen cognitive skills; simple classic board and card games
- Cooking & Baking: Enjoy taste and cultures from around the world, and scrumptious treats that highlight the season
- Gardening: Get your hands dirty and enjoy a sense of accomplishment growing flowers and veggies in above-ground planters in our beautiful setting

Waterford Estates is your go-to destination for rehabilitation, whether recovering from a recent injury or illness, or in need of longer-term strengthening and balance improvement. Our partnership with AbleHearts Outpatient Rehabilitation provides a team of professionals who will collaborate with you and your healthcare providers to create a tailored plan to support your recovery journey and achieve your health objectives. Our multi-disciplinary rehab team includes physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech/language therapists to provide expert support for a wide range of specialized needs caused by impairments in strength and mobility, memory, vision or hearing, or following acute episodes, including post-stroke recovery.
